Blasts From The Past
The 2024 Red season marked the 25th anniversary of Red's 1999 National Championship.
In honor of the anniversary, the National American Legion published a story in February 2024 about the '99 Red team.
Read it Here: "Minnesota Team Powered its Way to the 1999 American Legion World Series Title"
National also recently ranked the 1999 Red team as having the 5th most dominant title run of all time.
Read it Here: Which ALWS Champions Had the Most Dominant Title Runs?
Although Red was not a participant, the 2007 Central Plains Regional Tournament
(hosted by Marshall MN) was moved to the Metrodome after 5" of rain fell in Marshall.
The teams played all night, round-the-clock, to determine the Regional Champ ... Eden Prairie.

An Important Message to Parents, from Program Manager, Nik Anderson
"I read an excerpt called, "The Matheny Manifesto," by Mike Matheny (Manager of the St. Louis Cardinal.) It is a letter to the parents of a little league team that he
coached, which he shared every year. He coaches his big leaguers the same way. Matheny's letter hit home with me, so I wanted to share some pieces of it with
you, that apply to OUR team. I've made adjustments to it for our organization, but would like all of you to track along with me -- (READ FULL REMARKS)"

CHS FIELD:
Over the course of a number of years, Tri-City Red staff was involved in the CHS Field construction effort, by testifying at the MN Legislature, attending related events, and helping to grow grass-root support for a new ballpark to replace Midway stadium (which was recently torn down). As a result, Fourth District American Legion Baseball also enjoys a unique relationship with the City of St. Paul, enabling us to use the park for Legion games, when it is avaialble. In fact, during the construction of CHS, a time-capsule was installed within the walls of the park (to be opened in 2065) -- and materials pertaining to Tri-City Red and 4th District Legion Baseball were contributed to it. Show Your Support of the Tri-City Legion!
As has been the case with many Legion Posts in recent years, the long-time sponsor of our baseball teams, Tri-City American Legion Post 513, faced struggles due to economic conditions -- and was forced to close its building, originally located on Old Highway 8 in New Brighton. (Tri-City continues to be a chartered Post -- it simply no longer has a building at which to hold community events and meetings.) You can show your onogoing appreciation to the Legion for all of the valuable contributions it makes to the community (in addition to sponsorship of the Legion baseball teams!), by supporting their continuing programs that benefit our area schools, veterans, youth, and the community at large. For information please visit the Post Facebook page. Also, if you are a veteran -- or if an immediate member of your family is a veteran -- please consider joining the Tri-City family as a member (Legion, Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion)!
(Because my father was a WWII veteran, I can proudly say that I am an American Legion Auxiliary member! Gail)

Tournament Notes: | It has been another wonderful season of Tri-City Red Legion Baseball !!! ... during which we welcomed many new faces (players and family members) to the ever-lasting "Tri-City Red family." It has been a season filled with the usual highs and lows that accompany the game of baseball -- but more importantly, we feel that it has provided opportunities for growth for all involved (including the staff!), that it has added to a sense of pride in our organization and community, and that it has created many long-lasting memories. We hope that it has been a positive and ejoyable experience for all, we thank you for your support during our usual whirlwind of a season -- and we look forward to an ongoing relationship in the future, either as a returning family or as a TCR alumnus. Great season, Red! | |||||||
