Tri-City Red Announces 2022 Roster (as of 5/14/22)

Thank you to all who registered and attended tryouts for Tri-City Red this season.
The following players have been named to the 2022 roster.

Layne Bennett Maddox Folska Cooper Kleppe
Landon Both Jack Henrich Joey Price
Connor Chervany Cole Hinkel Andrew Rog
Brandon Cook Tanner Hoemann Bryce Rog
Ryan Counihan Parker Holmboe Andrew Simon
Leo Fleischhacker Jack Kelly

The Tri-City Red season begins Monday, June 13th -- and continues non-stop through, hopefully, the State Tournament (July 27 - 31 in Burnsville) -- and beyond! (The American Legion Regional and World Series follow during the two weeks thereafter.)

Parent/Player meeting: Wednesday, May 26, 2022, 6:15 pm arrival time, Mounds View HS Forum: At least one parent needs to attend (preferably both). The season schedule will be reviewed, along with general procedural issues and expectations, and uniforms and equipment will be distributed -- plus there will be ample time for questions. At that time, the registration fee will be due, along with player forms (which will be distributed in advance by email). An ORIGINAL of the player's birth certficate must also be provided, which will be held for the duration of the season. Therefore, parents are encouraged to locate the player's birth certificate now (and order an additional original, if desired.)

Please direct any questions or concerns to Head Coach, Bo Lovdahl (651-757-8603) or to Administrator, Gail Kalata (651-592-4279). Thank you!

An Important Message to Parents, from Team Manager, Nik Anderson

"I read an excerpt called, "The Matheny Manifesto," by Mike Matheny (Manager of the St. Louis Cardinal.) It is a letter to the parents of a little league team that he
coached, which he shared every year. He coaches his big leaguers the same way. Matheny's letter hit home with me, so I wanted to share some pieces of it with
you, that apply to OUR team. I've made adjustments to it for our organization, but would like all of you to track along with me -- (

Other Local, State and National News

CHS FIELD:
Over the course of a number of years, Tri-City Red staff was involved in the CHS Field construction effort, by testifying at the MN Legislature, attending related events, and helping to grow grass-root support for a new ballpark to replace Midway stadium (which was recently torn down). As a result, Fourth District American Legion Baseball also enjoys a unique relationship with the City of St. Paul, enabling us to use the park for Legion games, when it is avaialble. In fact, during the construction of CHS, a time-capsule was installed within the walls of the park (to be opened in 2065) -- and materials pertaining to Tri-City Red and 4th District Legion Baseball were contributed to it.

Show Your Support of the Tri-City Legion!

As has been the case with many Legion Posts in recent years, the long-time sponsor of our baseball teams, Tri-City American Legion Post 513, faced struggles due to economic conditions -- and was forced to close its building, originally located on Old Highway 8 in New Brighton. (Tri-City continues to be a chartered Post -- it simply no longer has a building at which to hold community events and meetings.) You can show your onogoing appreciation to the Legion for all of the valuable contributions it makes to the community (in addition to sponsorship of the Legion baseball teams!), by supporting their continuing programs that benefit our area schools, veterans, youth, and the community at large. For information please visit the Post Facebook page. Also, if you are a veteran -- or if an immediate member of your family is a veteran -- please consider joining the Tri-City family as a member (Legion, Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion)!

(Because my father was a WWII veteran, I can proudly say that I am an American Legion Auxiliary member! Gail)
