Statewide Legion Baseball Poll

The MN American Legion Baseball Statewide Coaches/Media Poll will again be in operation for the 2013 season. Tri-City Red has been a fixture in the poll -- quite an accomplishment, considering there are over 325 Legion teams in Minnesota. Complete poll results are posted each week on this web site, as well as being distributed to several media outlets and newspapers all across the state. Make sure to check for the latest Poll results frequently!

Tri-City Continues to Contribute to the Advancement and Promotion of American Legion Baseball

In addition to being the first American Legion Post and baseball teams in the State of Minnesota to establish a web site, do you know all the other ways that Tri-City helps to strengthen the American Legion Baseball Program in Minnesota? First, volunteers within the Tri-City organization handle the administration and publication of the Statewide American Legion Poll (read more). Secondly, Tri-City provides space on its own website to host the Official Minnesota State Tournament website -- as well as maintaining the site during the tournament and assisting with the running of the tournament itself. In addition, Tri-City hosts and maintains the MN Legion Baseball home page, and Tri-City plays an important role in assisting with the administration of the Gopher Classic tournament, including publishing all game schedules and results on-line. All of this information not only helps to advance the program, but it serves to benefit players by making more information accessible to college and professional scouts.

Because of its numerous contributions to American Legion Baseball -- on and off the field -- Tri-City was named Post of the Year by Minnesota American Legion Baseball in 2005. So, be proud of your association with Tri-City -- and help us continue to enhance our reputation as a leader in American Legion Baseball by representing our Post with dignity and integrity!

Show Your Support of the Tri-City Legion!

As has been the case with many Legion Posts in recent years, the long-time sponsor of our baseball teams, Tri-City American Legion Post 513, has faced struggles in recent years due to the difficult economy -- and was forced to close its building as a result. (The Legion continues as a chartered Post -- it simply no longer has a building at which to hold community events.) You can show your onogoing appreciation to the Legion for all of the valuable contributions it makes to the community (in addition to sponsorship of the Legion baseball teams!), by supporting their continuing programs that benefit our area schools, veterans, youth, and the community at large. For information on current events (e.g., the collection of items for charitable garage sales, craft sales, etc.), please make sure to visit the Legion's web site, as well as its Facebook page. Also, if you are a veteran -- or if an immediate member of your family is a veteran -- please consider joining the Tri-City family as a member (Legion, Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion)!

(Because my father was a WWII veteran, I can proudly say that I am an American Legion Auxiliary member! Gail)

44th Annual Princeton Legion Tournament (Print Tournament Bracket)
Tournament Notes: Participants: Tri-City Red, Rogers, Hopkins, Lino Lakes (Centennial), St. Francis, River Falls, Grand Rapids and Princeton.

The
City of Princeton is located off of Highway 169, north of Elk River and Zimmerman. Take the Rum River Dr. exit (when traveling north on 169 --it's the 1st exit for Princeton, which is also indicated as the exit for the hospital and airport. You'll see the ballpark lights in the distance, to the N / NW.) At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right onto Rum River Dr. Continue to 5th Street; go left on 5th (westbound) for roughly 6 blocks (you'll likely see signs for Mark Park along the way.) You will come to a T. Turn right, then a quick left into the parking lot.

As with Fargo, Tri-City Red been participating in this tournament annually since the early 90's, although due to a shortened National season, Red was not able to participate in 2010 and 2011, because the tournament was held in June. Red has won this tournament more times than any other team -- 8 times (1993, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012).

If you have not been to the Princeton tournament previously, it will quickly become one of your favorites -- great field, great hosts,, great stories, great time!...and, unfortunately, you'll likely have to listen to us "old-timers" relive the
'99 team's feats at Princeton.

2013 Sub-State Tournament

This year, 15 "Sub-State Playoff Tournaments" will be held across Minnesota, instead of 10 District tournaments -- eliminating the past practice of multiple teams from certain District playoff tournaments earning berths in the State Tournament. (In addition to the 15 Sub-State Champions, the State Tournament Host team, Edina in 2013, automatically receives a berth, which rounds the State Tournament field out to 16 teams.)

4th District teams have been assigned to two different Sub-State playoff tournaments:
